elcome to the BluSkies Small Animal Rescue. We are a NO-KILL organization dedicated to the saving and the rehabilitation of homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals. We strive to place happy, healthy babies into happy, healthy, homes. Our animals are treated with kindness, showered with love and they live as a part of our own families. Until a new home can be found for them. They receive medical care, proper nutrition, spay & neutering and most importantly, a second chance at life. We receive noselicks, tail wags and matches made in heaven for our reward. We are all volunteers, We give our time freely, hoping to make a difference and knowing that we can. It is not uncommon for us to dig deep in to our own pockets. Going that one or two extra little steps, to ensure a fur-babies well being. Working together as a team, we are able to help a great many different kinds of animals. From birds to ferrets, to small dogs and more... We extend ourselves to other area's as well. Wherever there is a pet in need we are willing to try and to help. Please meet our own little "Texas Baby". All the way from Harlingen, Texas. She was rescued from "Death Row" just in the nick of time...

- Here she sits, caged and alone (in Texas). Awaiting her doom in a High-Kill shelter.
- Being held by her wonderful Angel Friend "Anna". Texas Baby is now safe and she is on her way home to us.
- Finally home at BluSkies Rescue, she is healthy, she is happy and she has since. Been adopted in to a permanent and a loving home. She survived it. She was on the euthanasia list at only 8 weeks of age. Set to die before even having a chance to live... She is the perfect example, of why you should never, ever assume. That your pet "will be adopted". Please consider this before taking your pet to a High Kill shelter. A reputable Rescue can provide the time and the effort that is needed for the proper placement of pets. We encourage checking out your local Rescue groups today.
Adopted... means that he or she has already been adopted and is now living the good life in their new adoptive home. Pending.... means that he or she does have an adoption that is pending. If for some reason it falls through, we will then notify the next person on the list that qualifies for him or for her.

TIBBIE Tibbie entered our rescue because her previous owner could no longer care for her.
Tibbie came to us with many, many medical needs. She ultimately had 36 teeth removed. (she is now toothless). She also has crippled rear legs and she suffered a stroke while under the anesthesia. Her journey has been a such long one and she is one tough cookie! She is not available for adoption, due to her various needs, however, we would like for you to hear her story. She, as so many of these babies are.... Is considered to be disabled. Of course, in our eyes she is absolutely perfect. Tibbie has been adopted into our home and her strength and her will to survive has just amazed us. To go from deaths door to being one of us (of course in her own quirky way.) It has truly been a miracle. We are very proud of Little Tibbie and we would just love for you to know about her and her strength. Please look for the "Tibbies Story" link and please enjoy your visit on the site. Preview... Below, are some pictures of our Little Tibbie in her new wheelchair. It's awesome lightweight frame and construction has enabled her to do so many things that she could not do before. Hats off to Doggone wheels! A wonderful company that allows freedom for disabled pets.

This is Little Miss Tibbie in her new set of "wheels." We are so very proud of her. In the first picture, she really wasn't to sure about it at all. Notice her little toungue hanging out in complete concentration. (too cute) In the second picture, she is more comfortable and she is simply checking things out. Then below, is Little Tibbie motoring along and boy can she go fast! So watch out all of you Indy racers, there is a new girl in town...

Tibbie has come such a long way since entering our Rescue and we are extremely pleased with how she gets around in her new cart. We want to thank www.doggonewheels.com for their wonderful gesture in helping her out. Please visit their site and show them your support today. Without their help, Little Miss Tibbie would still be a "couch potatoe". And now..., with her new set of wheels. She is mobile and her newest attitude towards life is, to run anything and everything over that is in her path! She is on a mission, way to go girl, we are so very proud of you!
ANGEL FRIENDS ARE NEEDED...
Just what is an Angel Friend? An angel friend is a wonderful person who donates to help out with our rescues medical bills & their various needs. These babies medical bills have exceeded the "norm" and then your help is truly needed. Donations recieved, allow us to be able to give them all of the treament that is required to make them happy and healthy once again. This can be done anonymously or... we would love to display your name proudly up on our scroller above. We are not 501 (c) 3, so donors cannot recieve a tax write off. Our entire group is made up of strictly volunteers and the medical expenses are paid out of our own pockets, from donations recieved and then also from the adoption fee's that are collected. Any help in this area is truly appreciated as we do struggle from day to day to keep up with the incoming. Geriatric and disabled pups are very expensive to care for and we do try to keep our adoption costs to reasonable amount for the publics sake. Paypal Donations can be accepted through the address of bluskiesrescue@cox.net Babies currently in need of an Angel Friend:

Please meet Little Mogwaii..... Mogwaii came to us after a good Samaritan plucked him out of horrible living conditions. He was only 1 1/2 lbs and he was living outside in a kennel with multiple other dogs. The entire scene was described to us as a puppymill situation. Dirty, unkept and all of the pups were in terrible shape, Mogwaii himself, being in the worst condition. Please take a moment to imagine that. Being so tiny and so frail and then trying desperately, to survive out in the cold. Mogwaii was trying to gum down large dog food with more than 3/4 of his lower jawbone missing? Hmm... it was not working very well and poor little Mogwaii was indeed slowly starving to death. On top of his starving, Mogwaii had a raging infection in his tiny body. His ears were terribly infected, and he had a melting ulcer in his eye. (the worst of all kinds). Poor little Mogwaii even lost his yorkie hair. His wonderful Angel friend that had stepped in to save him, she truly had her work cut out for her. She nursed and she truly loved little Mogwaii and she indeed, saved his life. Now, with us, We look at him in absolute awe. We took little Mogwaii in to our the Vets to see all what his medical history entailed. Boy did we get an eye opener! It appears that little Mogwaii's teeth had literally rotted out of his mouth. Then the infection spread to his lower jaw bone and it to, began to deteriorate. They feel that Poor little mogwaii probably held his mouth open for months due to the pain. This caused the muscle in the lower jaw to atrophy to leaving him pretty much open mouthed. On top of all of this, the scar patterns on Mogwaii's ears inside and out, suggest that he may indeed have been burned with a hot liquid. One of Mogwaii's eyes also had a melting ulcer. This means that the outer lens was torn or scratched and then a raging infection set in. So bad that the lens started to melt away. Again, please imagine just how little Mogwaii must have felt. Life was truly terrible for this little guy and yet he survived it. His will to live is just amazing. Currently, he is up to just about 3 lbs, in weight and he is to be considered very special needs. At this point in his life, we are trying to decide on what would be the best for his future. He is currently not available for adoption, but we did want to share his story and to hopefully educate the public awareness. Pups that are only wanted for breeding purposes are not family members. Pups tossed outside to live in the elements are not "mans best friend". Pups medically neglected are put at risk for death. Small dogs cannot eat large kibble. It will break down their teeth and it will cause them severe infection and pain.... Little Mogwaii started out life with forty two teeth. Now he has none. Can you just imagine how painful that must have been for him? If you ever see a situation where pups are neglected, please speak up. Don't let little Mogwaii's journey be in vain. Tell somebody and get them out of that situation. The real kicker to Mogwaii's story, is that he is only 5 years old.... Today his living begins, and his clinging for life ends. He is safe, he will always carry the memories, but from this day forward new and happy memories will be made. Please think of him and the responsibility of caring for a pet. We don't "own them", we are truly lucky to have their friendship and their love. Update 4/4/2005: Little Mogwaii has finally recieved all of his much needed vaccinations & parasite removal. It is clear that there is a very fine line on him maintaining his own body weight. He still requires hand feedings and he will need this for a lifetime. Due to the extent of the damage on his lower jawbone, Mugwaii is now considered to be a permanent resident at The Bluskies Small Animal Rescue. If you would like to be Mugwaii's Angel friend and to help with some of his extra expenses, We would be very grateful for it. His "material needs" are fairly simple. He goes through at the minimum 6 super sized kotex pads daily. Baby wipes, dog shampoo, canned ground dog food. Extra, *extra tiny little clothes & belly bands*. Mugwaii has to be kept shaved down due to the diaper and also due to the "slobbering". Clothes are much needed to keep his tiny little body warm. Mugwaii also wants to say a great big Thank You to Mona Trace & Leslie Mihalko for the wonderful donation of maxi pads! If you would like to be one of Mugwaii's Angel Friends and to help with his material needs, please contact Bonnie at wetfire8@dishmail.net
Update 1/11/2006:
Little Mugwaii has developed an ulcer in his eye and it is being treated at this time. He has also been diagnosed with heart disease. His little heart is enlarged and fluid surrounds it. It is pushing up against his lungs. He is starting a new round of treatment for this. In light of his x-rays, they now feel he is a little older than they originally thought he was. His medical is climbing and at this point we are trying to make him comfortable. Any help with medical bills for little Mugwaii would truly be appreciated. He is being seen at the Mountain Vista Animal Hospital. (the address is below.) Any monetary donations can be applied directly to this account. It will help Mugwaii in his time of need as well as other special pups. Mugwaii is also in a constant need for Kotex super maxi pads. Please e-mail wetfire8@cox.net for info on how to donate items such as this. We would also like to say Thank you to Mugwaii's previous angel friends. A few have stepped forward and helped him tremendously. Thank you, we could not do it without you! Update 2/27/2006 Little Mugwaii's eye ulcer is just about completely healed. His little body did not agree with the heart medication that he was given, so they have been stopped. It was a very tough decision for us to make. On the meds, Mugwaii was un-responsive. No tail wags, No will to live, almost a vegetable. Off of the medication, he seems happy and he is continuing to snuggle and to flop out that little toungue for his kisses. We do know, that off the medication, his life may be shorter. He is not currently in heart failure as of yet and we will truly cherish each day that we have with him. Mugwaii has also started to choke on the dry food. He has been switched back to canned food. We hand feed him very tiny portions to avoid the choking. Any help with canned, ground food is truly appreciated. He cannot eat anything that is chunky. His current weight is 3 lbs 3 oz. Mugwaii is also becoming very crippled in the rear legs. We are watching his progression and if he shows us any sign of pain. We will then see, if he is a candidate for a wheelchair. All in all, Mugwaii is like a little "grandpa". Although his body is aging, he is still so very much alive. So very sweet and loving despite the terrible life that he endured before. It just goes to show how much these babies do appreciate our love. Mugwaii has made such an impact on our lives, each day that look at him, I see his enormous will to just keep on going. He is such an angel. Goofy as can be and really, the light of our lives. Update 6~19~2006 Little Mugwaii is still hanging in there. He is getting progressively worse from his heart, but he still shows us that he is chuck full of life and of love. In some areas, he needs a little more help than he used to, but all in all he is really just a great big snuggle bunny. It appears that as he ages, he gets more loving. He absolutely adores going bye bye in the car, and he is also the "king" of my lap. He stands so proudly and no one would ever know of the life that he had before. If it were not for the physical scars that are so very obvious. Mugwaii has blended himself to our family and everyday, he is a gentle reminder of the many pets out there in the world. That are still in need of our help.
Update 9-1-2007:
Mugwaii is doing well in Wisconsin, he did suffer another eye ulcer shortly after arriving. He is now all healed up and as spunky as ever! We keep the grass mowed short so he can see over it and he prances around like he owns the whole place. We are grateful for each day with him and we hope that he continues to thrive and enjoy life. He still uses up the pads like there is no tommorow, so please consider donating, it is very much appreciated.

ADOPTED!!! Little Miss Boo Boo.... Little Miss Boo Boo came to us, after a wonderful woman saved her from the shelter. At this shelter she was set to die. Simply, because she had a "bum leg." It is so sad, This little girl has seen enough in her lifetime to make one question humanity and how a little one could have even survived it. The story is, is that a child did this to her leg. This tiny little girl weighing in at a whopping 3 pounds was abused by a child. After the torment, the end result was a severe amputation of her right, rear leg. She is now three legged and she is recuperating very well. We are very proud of her. Little Miss Boo Boo has survived the odds and she will soon, be on the look out for her new and her forever home. A home with absolutely no small children and preferably an all female household. This is her comfort zone. She is scared of men, she clings to women and within a few minutes after she arrived, she had become my very bestest friend. She is 100 % lap dogger, she loves to be held and coddled and she will give sweet, dainty and gentle little kisses to show you that she truly loves you. Little Miss Boo Boo is a sweetheart and her new mom should be able to see past her physical deformity and love her for who she is. A beautiful and a tough little survivor.

Little Miss Boo Boo will do just fine on three legs. As you can see, she is already up and around. She follows me everywhere and she begs to be up on my lap. Her scars will indeed heal and she will be able to do most. Of what a little pup should be able to do.

Adopted! Bella...... Miss Bella..... Miss Bella came to us through no fault of her own. Her owner made sure that she went to a safe place and she wants nothing more than for her little girl to get a loving, forever home. Bella is very sweet and shy. Once she warms up to you she is 100% devoted. She wants nothing more than to be your best friend and she will follow you to the moon. She is an indoor lap dog and needs someone to dote on her. We see her ideal home as one with no other pets. (unless it is her brother). She is scared of other dogs and gets the tiny chihuahua shakes. Bella is tiny herself. Weighing in at only 3 lbs, we want to make sure she goes to an adult home where her little bones will be taken into consideration. Also, Bella is just a puppy at 5-6 months of age.

Adopted Molly... Molly is a true sweetheart with great house manners. She is just kind of mellow and she sure enjoys life with us human folk. Molly is only 5 years old and she has a lifetime of love and devotion to offer to her new mom and dad. Molly is spayed, up to date on shots and she would absolutely love a lap to lay on, a bed to sleep in and a new home to call her own.
Adopted! Sonny..... Sonny is a very sweet & adorable 3 year old male yorkshire Terrier. He is super friendly and he loves to give kisses and to snuggle. He is now looking for his new and forever home to call his very own. He is neutered, up to date on shots and he is just learning how to ride in cars and to walk on a leash. We are looking for someone to spoil him, someone to be his new forever friend and most importantly, somone who will cherish him for a lifetime & more.
p.s. Sonny would love to be adopted with his sister Cher!

Adopted! Cher.....Cher is a sweetheart. She is a 3 year old female Yorkshire Terrier and she is now looking for her new and forever home. Cher is a little one who is very timid. She is very loving, we see her ideal home as being low key, no small children and a bonus.... a home with her brother? Cher is looking for a lap to snuggle on, one that will give lots of love and to re-assure her that everything is a-ok. Cher is spayed, up to date on shots and ready for her new best friend.

Miss Bella Adopted!
This sweet little girl was pulled from our local high kill shelter. We are still shaking our heads as to how or why? She could have ever ended up in such a terrible and a scary place. She just shivered in fear and from the very instant that we got her out of there. We were just showered with her sweetness and her beauty. The whole 3 lbs of her. She was so very thin, traumatized and extremely fearful of young children. We knew right then, that she truly needed an extra special home to treat her like a princess forever more. We searched high and low and then we found her a wonderful and a forever home. She is no longer a "throw away pet", she is the apple of her mothers eye and she has grown & she has really flourished. Into just an awesome little girl. Please remember her face. Remember her name and then think twice, about leaving your pet in a high kill shelter.

"CJ" ADOPTED With the help of some wonderful volunteers, CJ came to us all the way from the great state of Texas. His original owner had died and then he was passed on to a family with a 3 year old child and another very, very spunky pup. His only outlet in life was to hide behind their couch and to just pray, that it would somehow all go away. His little doggy prayers were answered and he is now leading the good life. Many thanks to all that have helped us, to help this wonderful little guy.

Miss Angel Baby ADOPTED! We pulled Miss Angel Baby out of our local high kill shelter. She was extremely thin, and she could barely breathe. She needed corrective surgery on her little nose. We are happy to say that she has had this done, she is breathing so much easier and she has gained some much needed weight. She is simply a doll, She is extremely friendly and she seems to love everyone and anyone. She absolutely adores children, gets along well with all other animals and she is almost "human in a sense". We feel that she would make such a wonderful companion to a very lucky family.

Kylee Adopted! Poor little Kylee. Her original owner had passed away and then she was given to the "son", who didn't even want her. So there she sat... like a lump on a log for close to a year. With no medical treatment or grooming to speak of. The picture of her "matts" is just a portion of what was taken off of this little girl. It took the groomers about 2 1/2 hours to even find her skin and her mouth was also almost entirely closed from the terrible matting. After she was shaved down it was apparent that she had also been physically abused. Her entire body was covered with bruises. Medically, she was in poor shape as well. She had to have some teeth extracted, get spayed and she also had a "surprise" tumour removed. Her soulful eyes bore her tremendous pain. And we cried along with her. She healed very slowly, and although she will always be scarred from her previous life. She has truly come along way. She is a precious little girl and we were just lucky enough to find out about her plight in time. She survived and she now is continuing to heal and to learn to trust in her new and forever home. She is a great example of why you should leave your pets in your will. Please make sure that they have a safe place to go if something should happen to you. Take care of your babies future before it is too late.

Loushell ADOPTED! Sadly, Loushell was hit by a car. But even sadder yet, her owners refused to pay for treatment and they abandoned her. She was then sent to the high kill shelter. When we saw her, we looked past her injuries, looked past how filthy and dirty she was and only saw an angel inside. We brought her home, allowed her to heal and boy were we all surprised! What a wonderful little girl. So very well behaved, friendly and mild mannered. And Even though her accident cost her the sight in one of her eyes, she flourished and she does extremely well. She has found her new and forever home and she continues to thrive.
These beds are simply awesome! All of the babies just love them and our goal is to be able to provide each and every rescued baby. With his or her, very own comfortable Kuranda bed. Please consider donating one today and adding to their peaceful nights sleep.
The goal is to place our Small & Furry friends with friends. To pair up companions for a lifetime. Some of these critters have simply been lost or left behind for whatever reason. Most are simply lacking love and attention. Our goal is to provide that to them with the help of you. As many times the babies do come to us needing more than just the normal vaccines and a simple spaying or neutering. This is where we need your help the most. If you are surrendering an animal to our rescue, please consider making a donation to help with the expenses. Or... If you are an animal lover and you would like to help out a with great cause, please consider donating. We appreciate any and all help that is offered.

Please.... do not take your unwanted pet to a local High-Kill animal shelter. They are given little time to be adopted and most of the shelters are considered high kill shelters. Which means.... if your baby is not adopted in time. THEY ARE KILLED! Sad but it is true. Save a life today. Please contact us and see if we can help. At BluSkies Small Animal Rescue. Here, all of the babies are safe. We do not cage any of the animals..., they sleep in bed with us, live as they should and they learn, what love, treats and hugs are. We treat them like our own children and we firmly believe. That every single Rescue has the potential to be a wonderful addition to your family. We do not discriminate, on whether an animal is pure-bred. To us, mixes are just as beautiful. Also, we do not require you to donate if you are surrendering an animal to us. We appreciate donations however can understand when one cannot. To surrender a pet, please click the link below and submit his or her information.
Animals featured below are adoptables within the Nevada Area. Some are in High Kill Shelters. Please take a look and see if your new companion is one of them...
Below is a link to the babies that have found their new and forever homes. A bit of a Memory Lane link for you to enjoy....
Please send all inquiries to: Bonnie Thomas at the link provided below. Please do not e-mail the foster parents regarding the surrender of an animal. All animals must be logged in and the appropriate paperwork submitted. Any Animals that are surrendered to a "foster parent" are not officially a part of our Rescue. Thank you making this process as smooth as possible and thank you even more. For caring about our wonderful rescued babies. Enjoy your visit and please come back to us often.
